Privacy Policy
ChatTimeline is designed as a local-first tool. This policy covers the website at chattimeline.com and the ChatTimeline browser extension.

This website is intended to operate without user accounts, advertising trackers or analytics cookies. The page itself does not require cookies for normal use.
When you visit the website, the hosting provider may technically process server log data such as IP address, date and time, requested file, referrer, browser information and operating system. This processing is generally necessary to deliver the website securely and reliably.
Legal basis, where the GDPR applies: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation of the website).
3. ChatTimeline browser extension
The extension is designed to work locally in your browser. Archived chat content is stored locally in browser storage. The working archive is encrypted using a password-derived key. The archive password itself is not intended to be stored by ChatTimeline.
To provide its functions, the extension communicates with chat service from within your logged-in browser session. This communication is between your browser and chat service/service provider and is subject to the terms and privacy practices of that service.
ChatTimeline does not require you to create a separate ChatTimeline account to use the local archive functions.
4. Local archive and exports
The local working archive is intended to remain on your device unless you choose to export it.
5. Support page and external services
The extension may link to coffee. The support options offered there may change over time. If an external payment or support provider is used, that provider's own privacy policy and terms apply.
6. No sale of personal data
ChatTimeline does not sell personal data.
7. Retention
Locally archived data remains under your control until you delete the archive, remove the extension's local data, or otherwise clear the relevant browser storage. Website server logs, if created by the hosting provider, should be retained only for the period required for security and technical operation.
8. Your rights
Where the GDPR applies, you may have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
9. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated when the website, extension or external services change. The current version published on this page applies.
